Our family moved to Central Provo about thirty years ago with the hopes of raising our family in a quiet, safe neighborhood. We quickly learned how helpless a citizen can feel when confronted by confusing governmental processes.
Many decisions that affected our lives are made by those who knew little, and cared even less, about us. Instead of just getting angry and complaining, we decided to get involved because those who experience the consequences of a decision need to participate when the decision is made.
With unprecedented support from neighborhood leaders, volunteers, non-profits, local businesses, and Provo City, we have made tremendous progress in strengthening our central district neighborhoods. We have learned through experience that strong neighborhoods require inclusive, cooperative partnerships that values all aspects of our lives.
With each experience, we build more connections that form the strength and define the fabric of our neighborhoods. With your help and support we will continue to increase the quality of life in our city.
Clearly, our local businesses are a key factor in this positive momentum. Provo has been twice recognized as one of the top entrepreneurial cities in the nation. I love and am very loyal to our downtown businesses. As an active proponent, I envision the Conference Center and Center for the Performing Arts as key elements to the ongoing revitalization of our district and Provo's economy.
There's still much to doso much positive momentum to build on!
